The 5th Annual Conference on Somali Studies (ACSOS2019) has kicked off on Tuesday 12 Nov 2019 and will continue three days at Sahal Conference Hall in Mogadishu,
The conference brought together academics, researchers, practitioners, public figures and civil society activists from different institutions, mostly universities and research centers across the country. It will continue in the period of 12-14 November 2019 under the theme of “Knowledge to Action: Promoting Resilience & Recovery”.
The conference opened by H. E. Abdirahman Jabiri, Somalia's State Minister for Education, Culture and Higher Education, Federal Government of Somalia; with the presence of Mr. Ismail, Director of Higher Education; Mr. Hassan Sheikh Hassan Acting President and vice president of relations of Mogadishu University, Mr. Mustafa Feiruz, Director of the Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS), in addition to a number of officials in universities and research centers.
The conference provides a platform for scholars to exchange updated knowledge and issues in the field. It is launched in April 2014 and is organized annually by the institute for Somali Studies within Mogadishu University.
