ISOS organized a roundtable discussion on “Somali Youth Migration: Drivers, Intentions& Solutions - Views & Narrations of Mogadishu Youth”on 17 December, 2015.
The roundtable gathered youth participants to share their views and opinions towards this problem. The participants were in the age of 20s, most of them 20 – 27 years old.Some of them experienced the migration and crossed few countries to reach western countries, but their parents aborted their journey and persuaded them to return home and continue their education.
The participants highlighted the youth motivations and intentions and the most prominent reasons for their migration to western countries.
The roundtable, also, was a contribution to develop the youth capability to understand and analyzetheir problems, and to explore the possible solutions, from the youth perspective; and how they can be a part of the solution.
