ISOS organized Talowadaag Roundtable on how to solve the tahriib problem (Tahriibka Dhallinyarada Dayacan: Sidee wax looga qaban karaa?) on 25 April, 2015.
The drivers of Somali youth emigration and their intentions was discussed deeply in the Talowadaag roundtable of 17thDecember, 2015. This session is more emphasized on the solutions of this phenomenon.
How to solve and minimize this problem?
First of all, the participants underlined the importance of identifying the nature of Somali youth migration and the reasons for their emigration. It is impelled migration due to many push factors in Somalia. These factors are interrelated factors. Perhaps, the shortage of job opportunities and poor economics are the top of the push factors forcing the Somali youth to emigrate and search an alternative better life. Theyare escaping from the difficult conditions of a repulsive environment!
Therefore, any solving strategies and policies must deal with these push factors and serve to reduce it.
The roundtable brought together experts and researchers in this field plus youth in their 20s and 30s of their age.
