A discussion forum “Cilmiwadaag Platform” entitled “Theorizing Islam and Islamists in Somalia: Critical Conceptions and Cultural Challenges”, delivered by Dr Abdurahman Badiyow, was held on 16th January 2020.
Dr Badiyow outlined the general framework of Islam and its classification of human actions; also, he overviewed the concept of Islamists in the contemporary world.
After the presentation, the participants contributed to the comments and questions on the topic. Finally, some suggested the significance of increasing these forums and debates among the various groups of Somali society, particularly the intellectuals and youth.
Dr Abdurahman Badiyow is an author and expert in Somali studies, also, he is A Senior Advisor for reconciliation and peacebuilding at the office of Somali Prime Minister.
