For the second consecutive year Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS) is ranked among the top think tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa according to the 2019 Global Go To Think Tanks Index Report by the University of Pennsylvania, USA, released on January 30th, 2020.
The 2019 Think Tanks Report identifies and indexes 8,162 think tanks around the world, in which there are 612 think tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa while 93 of them work in Horn of Africa [Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Kenya].
The Global Go To Think Tank Index is the largest, most comprehensive database of think tanks compiled annually by TTCSP of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. The 2019 edition of the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report marks the 14th edition of the report. According to the report, the evaluation process were participated by about 4000 University faculty and administrators, Journalists, policy makers, think tank scholars and executives, and donors from every region of the world.
ISOS is a research center within Mogadishu University established in 2001. It promotes analysis of key and contemporary issues and developments in Somalia, Horn of Africa, and the Somali communities in abroad. It focuses on issues which are critical to the recovery and rebuilding of Somalia, a country emerging from a devastated civil war.
This recognition is another motivation that would inspire the institute to intensify its efforts and activities.
