Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS) organized a webinar panel discussion entitled “Why Think Tanks and Public Policy Advice Matter in Somalia” on Sunday January 31, 2021 presented by distinguished panelists with different academic and professional backgrounds.
The webinar participated virtually by think tanks, academicians, civil society organizations and activists and public figures.
The panel discussed the crucial role of think tanks and how they can add insights and value on key policy issues for policymakers and the public in recovering Somalia. The panel highlighted the critical role of think tanks in challenging times and beyond. The discussion featuring a lively interactive participation with the webinar attendees.
The panel discussion participated by the panelists: Mr Mustafa Feiruz, director of the Institute for Somali Studies; Mr Mahad Wasude, director of the Somali Public Agenda; Dr Shafie Sharif, managing director of the Somali Researchers Association; Ms Anab Siyad, researcher at Mogadishu University; Mr Hussein Yusuf Ali, director of the SomaliInstitute of Peace; Mr Luqman Gelle, researcher at the East Africa University (Garowe). The program moderated by Mr Abdisatar Arabow.
This event was a part of a global event organized and hosted by around 250 organizations and local institutions in 125 cities around the world within the thematic framework of Why Think Tanks Matter in Times of Crisis.
This event coincided with the launching of the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report issued by TTCSP at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
