In partnership with the Lauder Institute at Pennsylvania University, the Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS) at Mogadishu University launched the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report prepared by TTCSP of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, released on January 28th, 2021. The 2020 edition marks the 15th edition of the report.

A virtual event for this aim on January 31, 2021, Ms Anab Siyad, researcher at Mogadishu University and fellow at ISOS, presented the background of the Global Go to Think Tank Index Report, and summarized the findings of the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, highlighting the think tanks in Somalia, Horn of Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

In this report, ISOS has been ranked in the top think tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa. For the 3rd consecutive year the Institute for Somali Studies ranked in the top think tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa in the 2020 Global Go To Think Tanks Index Report.

This event was a part of a global event organized and hosted by around 250 organizations and local institutions in 125 cities around the world and featured by the Global Virtual Think Tank Forum, within the thematic framework of Why Think Tanks Matter in Times of Crisis, to highlight the critical work think tanks perform and how they have helped save lives and livelihoods.
