The 11th Annual Conference on Somali Studies (ACSOS2024) successfully concluded on December 12, 2024, at Mogadishu, Somalia. 

Organized by the Institute for Somali Studies (ISOS) and co-hosted with Mogadishu University and Hormuud University, the conference focused on the theme: “Engaged Citizens, Competent Institutions, Responsible Government.”

Over three days, scholars, policymakers, and researchers engaged in discussions on governance, education, and social cohesion. Key highlights included keynote speeches by leading experts and thought-provoking panel sessions on institutional building and citizen engagement.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Mustafa Feiruz, Director of ISOS, praised the participants for fostering collaboration and advancing Somali studies. “ACSOS2024 showcased the transformative power of collective knowledge in shaping Somalia’s future,” he noted.

The conference concluded with preparations underway for ACSOS2025, set to take place in December next year.
